Leadership Programs
Gymnastics NSW believe that young leaders interested in developing into coaches / officials or administrators are not dissimilar to young athletes who are striving to become high level performers. They need a strong dedication, desire and commitment to personnel excellence; solid leadership and communication skills. They need to demonstrate improvement, be open-minded and possess the desire to move up the ladder, whilst also having a passion for sport.
The GNSW Aspire to Lead Program has been developed to provide young leaders in gymnastics with a pathway of opportunities, including education and training, which may lead to a career within the sport. The Aspire to Lead Program is aimed at Young People, aged 14-16yrs, both Male and Female, who are actively leading within their Club or School setting. This could be undertaking roles such as: coaching, judging, helping at events, setting up equipment, designing posters or generally acting as a helper. These leaders need to be willing to develop their skills and experiences within gymnastics.
The 2012 Aspire to Lead Program will commence with the GNSW Leadership Camp on the 14th and 15th April 2012 at the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation. The residential camp will take advantage of the excellent facilities on offer at the Department of Sport and Recreation Sydney Academy to run a series of workshops, practical sessions and team building activities. The programme is designed to equip the leaders with skills to help them to develop as coaches, officials and administrators to service sport in the future. Emphasis will be placed on developing transferable skills, through an informal learning environment.
For further information refer to the Application Pack and Application Form. The deadline for applications is 9am on Friday 9th March 2012.
