NSW Gymnast Prashanth Sellathurai has finally claimed his ellusive Gold medal on Pommel Horse.
Overnight Prashanth put together a fantastic routine to claim gold in the Apparatus finals on Pommel Horse, with an outstanding score of 15.500. NSW high Performance Centre Coach Songliang Xiong was extatic with his performance.
Prashanth attempted to double up with a medal on rings later on in the evening, but unfortunately faulted on his dismount and placed 5th. Australian gymanst Sam Offord claimed the Gold for Australia.
Both NSW Gymnasts Luke Wiwatowski and Prashanth Sellathurai will featured again in the final rounds of the Men's Apparatus finals on High Bar & Parallel Bars respectively, Luke unfortunately missed one of his difficult elements on the High Bar after what was looming as a near perfect routine. Luke put in an outstanding games performance, considering he was only called in 3 weeks prior after fellow NSW gymnast Philip Rizzo was ruled out after still recoving from shoudler surgery.
Prashanth put up a strong effort of Parellel Bars to place third, both Prashanth & Luke have done NSW & Australia proud in their Commonwelath Games performances. The team now heads to Rotterdam for the World Championships and we wish them all the best of luck.
