THIS WORKSHOP IS COMPULSARY FOR ALL LEVEL 1 COACHES TEACHING SOMMERSAULTS
The Salto Bridging Workshop takes Participants through the basic concepts in teaching basic salto elements, and provides basic drills and techniques. Any Participant must hold a minimum Level 1 Gymnastics accreditation to participate in the workshop.
There are 2 versions of this workshop
Generic Salto bridging for all level 1 coaching disciplines
Trampolining Salto bridging for level 1 TRP coaches (You must have a TRP accreditation for this course)
This workshop is designed to introduce the teaching of basic front and back somersaults.
This workshop does not cover more complex salto’s such as dismounts from apparatus, or in hang or piked/stretched salto shapes. These are covered within the Level Two accreditation syllabus.
Level One Coaches teaching of salto skills, require additional competencies beyond the parameters of the Level One Coach Accreditation.
Coaches should ensure that they work with a mentor coach who is competent to teach salto skills and a gymnast who is ‘ready’ to undertake salto skills.
Coaches who intend on using a trampoline/double mini trampoline as a key teaching tool, should undertake a formal accreditation in Trampoline Sports, beginning with the Level One TRP Course, Bridging Courses and Level Two.
Forward salto skills have ‘blind’ landings. Landings from a height with a force that a salto skill can generate, can cause serious injury. Coaches should minimise landings on any hard surface and take extra special care.
