Financial relief for NSW community sport

Updated 12 June 2020

Gymnastics NSW welcome’s the announcement of the NSW Government’s $27 million Community Sport Recovery Package.

As part of the recovery package, a one-off grant of up to $1,000 will be provided to close to 12,500 local sporting clubs and associations across the State to assist clubs for when sport resumes on 1 July.

Gymnastics NSW Chief Executive Officer Aaron Bloomfield knows that this support will be well received within the Gymnastics NSW community.

“2,500 people are employed across 220 gymnastics clubs in New South Wales each year, the impact of COVID-19 was deeply felt by our community. With three months of no income, bills and the additional costs of cleaning and hygiene, our clubs have been hit hard.”

“With gymnastics clubs resuming operations from this weekend, the Community Sport Recovery Package will allow our clubs to provide hand sanitiser, signage and essential provisions for our members,” stated Bloomfield

Further details regarding eligibility and the process to access this funding will be finalised and announced by Sport and Recreation next week.
