Coaching Staff

Gymnastics NSW has recruited some of the leaders of the sport of Gymnastics within Australia.  Meet The NSW High Performance Centre team.

    Program Manager - Yusuf Topari

As a member of the New Zealand National team until 2005, Yusuf competed in international competition in Australia and Europe. Yusuf relocated to Sydney, Australia in 2006.  In 2008 he was recruited as the junior development manager at Northern Beaches Gymnastics and in 2010 was appointed head coach and program manager.  Yusuf has had NSW, Australian and International representatives.  He has furthered his education with studies in Business Management, Fitness and Athlete Development, specific to High Performance (elite level) training.


  Senior Coach - Hongwei Du

Hongwei started his coaching career for the Hebei State University team in China, before relocating to Malaysia where he was appointed Head Coach of the National women’s team in 2000.  He has coached athletes to World University and World Championships level, and joined the GNSW High Performance Centre in 2008.


Junior Development Coordinator - Mandy McLean

Mandy Mclean started coaching Men's and Women's gymnastics in 1983 for Ingleburn RSL for the Campbelltown City Council. There she worked her way up to head coach and ran the program for 12 years. Since then, Mandy has coached at four other clubs with her main focus and passion being Men’s Artistic Gymnastics.   Mandy specializes in the development of junior elite /levels 1-5 and has a proven track record in developing not only strong development gymnasts, but also building a strong overall program evident in her 50 plus NSW State Champions. Mandy has also had a total of 12 athletes which have previously been accepted into the NSW High Performance Centre.
