Women's Gymnastics

Gymnastics NSW is excited to have secured a number of high calibre guest presenters for the Women’s Gymnastics component of the Building for Tomorrow, 2018 Gymsport Clinic! This is certainly an educational and professional development opportunity not to be missed with the wealth of knowledge and experience on offer as part of the 2018 Gymsport Clinic.

The Women’s gymnastics component of the clinic will take place over three days with coach lectures taking place on the Friday and practical sessions as well as lectures available on the Saturday and Sunday.

We are very pleased to have a large number of topics being covered during the event. We encourage participants to attend as many of the lectures/sessions as possible to gain maximum benefits from the wealth of knowledge as there will undoubtedly be a flow through of information throughout the duration of the three days. 

Carol-Angela Orchard

Carol-Angela enjoyed a successful career coaching in Canada for more than 35 years.  She worked in various aspects including: Chairing the Women’s Technical Committee and Elite Coaching Committee, being a leader in Coaching Education, and was the National Technical Adviser to Canadian Head Coach Andrei Rodionenko.  She coached at 4 Olympic Games and 14 World Championships.

Carol-Angela Orchard was the Personal Coach of Elyse Hopfner-Hibbs, Bronze Medallist on Beam at 2006 World Championships in Aarhus, Denmark. This historic achievement was Canada’s first ever, World Championship Medal in WAG.  

Carol-Angela has an Honorary Diploma of International Coaching, which is the highest level of recognition from The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). She was also one of the first coaches to earn an International Coaching Brevet back in 2006. Since that time, Carol-Angela has been an FIG Coaching Expert, presenting educational sessions worldwide. 

For the last 10 years, she has been working freelance around the world.  She is the specialist beam coach of 2017 World Championship Beam Medallists from Germany, Pauline Schaefer (Gold) and Tabea Alt (Bronze).

Carol-Angela is known as a true motivator.  Carol-Angela often gives lectures inspiring those in attendance to look for positive solutions. “Dream big, work hard and be passionate about everything you do” is the personal philosophy she lives by.

o 2018 Level 9 under and Level 10 State team members who qualified for day 2 at the 2018 Australian Championships  (by invitation only) 
o IL High Performance, Junior and Future State Squads (By invitation only)

Note: Interstate International Stream gymnasts will be able attend upon invitation only.

Workshops
In addition to practical sessions and lectures for coaches and judges, the Gymsport Clinic will offer a wide variety of informative and engaging workshops for both coaches and gymnasts.

Each workshop will be presented by industry experts aimed at providing knowledge and practical application of topics including:

o Sports Psychology
o Injury Prevention, Management & Rehabilitation
o Recovery
