GNSW Launch Member Support Fund
The Gymnastics NSW Board are excited to announce the introduction of a Member Support Fund to provide financial assistance to athletes and officials experiencing genuine financial hardship. In particular, the Support Fund is aimed at athletes that have been selected for the NSW State Team for National Championships, or for families of athletes with three or more children attending State Championships.
Gymnastics NSW President Phillip Western acknowledges the support of our clubs in the delivery of the new initiative.
“The Board thanks the support and cooperation of clubs in making initiatives such as this happen. As the sport and our clubs have grown our ability to help support our club and people has grown with it. We all share the desire to ensure that our sport is accessible to everyone and hope that initiatives such as this to allow our athletes to represent their club and state in the sport that they love. ” noted Mr. Western.
The Board has allocated seed funding of $50,000 with around $20,000 to be allocated to support families each year.
The fund will be managed by a Sub Committee consisting of a Director of GNSW who shall act as Chair, a GNSW employee who shall act as Secretary, and two other general representatives appointed by the Board.
Written applications for assistance will be called towards the end of each year, with applications to be received early in the new year. Applicants will be asked a series of questions that will help the Committee determine genuine financial hardship. If an applicant is uncomfortable responding to a question they are under no obligation to respond to it. All information will be treated with the strictest of confidence.
Further information regarding the Sub Committee and Application can be found in the Member Support Fund Terms of Reference.
