Pacific Rim Championships Wrap Up

The 2018 Pacific Rim Championships, held in Medellin, Colombia, featured women’s and men’s artistic gymnastics, rhythmic and trampoline from April 27-29.  The three-day event featured athletes from the PANGF Member Federations.

NSW Gymnasts had some fantastic results at the 2018 Pacific Rim Championships over the weekend.

In women's artistic gymnastics, Junior International competitor Chipizubov brought home Bronze in the team event, also qualifying for apparatus finals in both Floor and Beam.

At just 16, men's artistic gymnast Hall also put in a stellar effort. In his second international competition to date, he placed 4th on both Floor and Rings, narrowly missing out on the podium by just 0.1 of a mark.

However it was our trampoline gymnasts that truly shone in the competitions, bringing home 4 medals from the Championships. In the junior international division, Pickering quickly established Australia's medal position, placing 2nd in the Synchronised Trampoline event with teammate Britney Glazebrook. The streak continued, with training partners Thomas and Swadling also earning silver in the international men’s event. Thomas and Swadling also brought home bronze in the team event, as well as qualifying for individual finals with training partner Pickering. Christie jumped to a double medal finish, placing 3rd in both the men's team event and junior international individual trampoline. For Van Rensburg it was a solid competition, qualifying for individual finals just a few month after ankle surgery to finish 4th in the finals.
Gymnastics NSW would like to say a big congratulations to our NSW athletes on their fantastic results:
