The annual event recognises businesses and individuals that have made positive changes to workplace health and safety, recovery and return to work.
Gymnastics NSW was recognised for the Risk Management Solution, a digital solution that records images of all equipment within a gymnastics club. By providing an easy method to catalogue equipment, clubs can easily do safety inspections and maintenance.
Project lead Sarah Watt says she is already seeing the impact of the app within the club environment.
“Each item in the gym will be allocated a QR code. So, when clubs do their equipment checks, all they need to do is scan the code in the app, review the equipment checking information, complete the equipment review and submit”.
Equipment checks are an essential part of WHS in the gym, with coaches expected to check all equipment before lessons to ensure athlete safety.
Ms Watt believes that by making the process simple, it has never been easier to maintain equipment safety in the gym.
“I doubt that anyone would say that equipment checks are their favourite part of their job. But they are essential. Through the RMS app, I know that we have made a necessary job easier to allow our coaches to quickly get back to what they do best, coach high quality gymnastics programs.”
Gymnastics NSW has previously been recognised with awards through SafeWork NSW Sporting Injuries Committee for risk management, member protection strategies, and development and implementation of WHS.
